940 stalls after a minute 900 1984

I have an 84 volvo (940) that, two days ago, stopped after it ran for two min. it wouldn't restart till I waited approx 7 min.. Then it ran for approx two min. and stopped again. This situation has kept repeating itself till today when now it won't start at all. There is spark and before this the car has been running smoothly.
