why do my water pumps keep going bad 200

Have 140K miles on my 92 240. Have replaced the original pump 3 times, now the current one is starting to leak. Have tried Volvo pumps, currently have a HEPU in there - lasted 25K miles. Have used Volvo AF all the time, I replace every 2-3 years. Careful not to make the fan belts too tight. Replaced the fan bearing 20K miles ago. So why do I keep wearing out pumps (a couple have leaked, a couple have developed noisy bearings)? Any advice appreciated. Any suggestions on brand to use or AF to install? have a Nissens all metal radiator in there now so I read that I should use the Zerex AF vice Volvo to reduce solder leaks.
