After all the "fun" last week with my 745T and its failed ECU, I have been driving it for 2 days with no trouble at all. But then, this afternoon it decided to have some fun with its twisted sense of humor: going into Gainesville, it started sputtering and just died. Luckily the experience of the last week gave me some insight. First, turn the key on and listen for the fuel pump. It worked, so next have a look at the diagnostics gadget to see what error codes it was reporting. None. Both computers were just fine. Hmmmmmm. The only thing I could think of was the Noise Supression Relay. Last week I had swapped it with the electric cooling fan relay while troubleshooting. So I swapped them back. After that, she started right up.
Ughh! The car might have gotten a laugh out of it, but in 95+ degree heat, I didn't think it was so funny.
Needless to say a new relay (or two) is coming home from the Volvo dealer tomorrow.
