I've got a 1992 245 and the AC system is not working well. The compressor keeps cycling on and off very quickly. I believe this is the symptom of a low refrigerant charge.
So I'm guessing it's time to convert from R12 to R134a. I've ordered the conversion kit from FCPGroton, but what else do I need to do the conversion? Do I need any extra o-rings? What tools do I need, etc. Anyone done this before on a 1992?
I've got a question about draining the old oil out of the compressor. Does the compressor have a drain plug? Or do I need to totally remove the compressor from the vehicle to drain it out? Also, would I need to purchase additional o-rings for the connections to the compressor?
I'm guessing I need to get the R12 evacuated out of the system and then I can do the work. Any helpful hints on getting the fittings torqued the right amount?
Thanks,
Looking forward to nice cool air soon.
