camshaft TDC confusion...

I have a quick question about the proper TDC alignment for the camshaft. 1987 244DL, B230, five speed. I see the dot on the pulley and have a screw hole on the outer belt cover at say 11 o'clock, facing the engine. The Haynes has two differnt diagrams that suggest it could be either 11 o'clock or 1 o'clock. I don't see any other marks but at about 1 o'clock the distributor looks about right, although the other pulleys then don't match. I'm confused. I think the belt slipped or something. Any help would be appreciated.

scott.
