I own a 1993 240 that has been overheating out of the overfill resivior 2x this week. thermostat was changed and mechanic said doesn't seem to be clogged radiator. He said I'm getting water flow and that the hoses are hot. I asked about a water pump...he said he'll put the car on the inspection machine to see if he is getting a coolant reading from the tailpipe. Am I hearing him correctly? He's checking for a blown head gasket. I've owned 8 volvos, have a loat of experience but not sure of this development. What can I look for to know he's telling me the truth. SSOMETHING IMPORTANT TO ADD...For some mysterious coincidence the alternator was not charging and it had to be replaced. He did this for me at no charge because he was the one who did the job for me previously and it was still covered under warranty. I thought this would have remedied the sluggish fan movement...therefor running water pump not to maximum and producing overheat but he said no.. Can anybody help me on their thoughts about this one. THANKS, Lynn
