float bowl follies 120-130

I am getting intermittent float bowl overflowing. It happens after running for a while, and when idling the gas flows freely out of the vent hole at the top of the bowl. When I rev it up, the overflow stops and sometimes remains dry when it returns to idle. Other times it starts to overflow again. Wierd.

I checked the float specs and needle valve, and made sure there is no blockage in the fuel flow through the tubing and jet. The car is running really well and responsive.

So I am not sure what is going on - the heat shield is the only thing preventing gas from dripping on the exhaust manifold. Seems to only happen at idle. The fuel pump has the proper spacer and gasket. Is it possible that engine shake causes some fuel to splash up in the bowl, and once that starts a kind of a siphon happens? Or is something going on when the fuel line and fuel gets warm? The fuel line is routed properly.

thanks for any thoughts in advance
