upgrade A/C compressor on 89 740T? 700

I am gettinr ready to work on the failed A/C system in my 89 740T. I am sure a hose failed, so I am going to open the system up and clean it out, then covert to R12a or 134, change orifice to variable, new dryer, etc. The compressor is working OK, but is there a better compressor that may be more efficient and have less drag on the motor, that I coudl install?
