So, my plastic belly pan is about to fall off for the umpteenth time, which means it needs to be replaced. I'm as reluctant to spend the $140 or so for ipd's aluminum pan as I am for another crappy plastic one that will meet the same fate as my current one in only a few years.

FCP Groton has a "high-density" plastic pan. Anybody have any experience with one of those?

I understand that the early 240s had a metal belly pan, but I haven't found one of those. I'm tempted to get a sheet of aluminum from the hardware store and make my own.

What other options do I have?
