My 83 242 Canadian model with B21A (no cat) rear muffler broke off at the inlet side and has a small leak at the front hanger just aft of the manifold. The last sytem cost abot $450 in 1999 so I was expecting an increase in price but Speedy quoted me $816 to install a new system! I was wondering if any Brickboard members has experience with fabricating an exhaust system which is not so complex. I am thinking that a small muffler about where the resonator no wsits and then a long tailpipe ending at the passenger side rear and eliminating the transverse rear muffler is doable. If someone has made such a system using aftermarket parts and/ or custom bending of pipes I am curious to see a photo or description of the system and the approximate cost. I love my old brick but I don't to shell out over $800 for a crappy Speedy system which will only last 3 years in this are which has very heavy salt use on the roads .
