What does engine designation 82 Stand For ? 200

Hi
I have a 1990 240 DL SW M47 gear box. Its VIN is like this YV1AA8257L1******
Now this tells me that engine code is 82 which should stand for B230GT or B230FD both of which look inlikely. It is not a turbo car so B230GT can be ruled out. The market code says US so B230FD can also be ruled out. What is it most likely to be ?.
The engine code is consistent on the other sticker also (ie which is on RHS fender)
