Trim question 200

For the second time, the back corner trim mouldings (that sit above the bumper) on the 240 sedan have separated. That is, the black plastic portion has separated from the aluminum portion. I now have a third replacement set, and the plastic is quite stiff on these as well, due to UV I presume. Before I put them on, I am curious to know if anyone has found a way to rejuvenate the stiff plastic to a more flexible state? Or, is this simply impossible?
