OKAY so i own a 1984 760 turbo with intercooler. i just recently bought it and when i purchased the car it ran fine. was running fine and than i took out the IAC and attempted to clean it. with full step by step instructions i slowly peiced the puzzle back together and re installed it. after the installation it did not fire, it only cranked. after rebuilding the iac mltiple times i put it a good iac from a scrap volvo. everything matched up and upon the reinstallation it still only cranked. We went through this evening and replaced decrepit wiring (oh it was horrid let me tell you), secured and checked all connections that were in sight. I was hoping such was the case, and after tighting everything up we became less hopeful with each crank. No go there. I am a terrible electritian, but i bought a multimeter with the hope id figure it out. The coil reads 1.5 with the key on and testing the two terminals. Not sure what that means..
-Cleaned IAC, quickie rebuild after second cleaning--and swapped in IAC from parts car.
-Swapped in coil
-Swapped powerstage/ignition control thingie.
-Checked and replaced wiring
-I can hear the fuel relay, and have verified fuel pump is churning when cranking.
-We grounded out a plug with a screw driver and found no spark. Tried to 'pull out coil wire' as the 700/900 series faq suggested, but still didnot see spark there.
When cranking, the tach bounces--and since the fuel pump runs too, that means the hall sensor is good? I dont know if the b230ft powerstage works with a b23ft, but the connection is the same. We tried the old one with the new coil, and the new coil with the old powerstage. No go on all fronts.
Stumped are we.
