88 240 gas gauge problems 200

The situation began when all dash lights and instruments failed one day. The problem was quickly solved with the cleaning and replacing of all the fuses. Except the gas gauge was only working occasionally. Then it stoped working all together. Everything else seems to be working correctly except that gauge. Any ideas??
