battery in trunk

anyone moved their battery to the trunk? did you use thicker wire to compensate for increased length? or used same 4 guage wire? thought i read somewhere about needing thicker wire to prevent power loss with longer wire. is it ok to attach the chasis ground in the trunk? or do i have to route it back to the enging compartment? thanks for any help
