1983 BMW 633 CSI Sunroof question

I have a 1983 633 CSI BMW that has a sunroof that does not work. I was able to tilt the roof up, and found that one of the rails has a bend in it. with this, I will need to get it open to repair it, however, dispite removing the motor, I can still not push it back into the roof. Does anyone have any advice, thanks nick.
