Oxygen Sensor Repair 200

Being a cheap B-----d,and not wanting to spend $129 Was wondering if anybody has heard of using a propane torch to burn off contaniments off an O2 sensor for a 89 244. Was reading on a Mustang website that this method might work. Any thoughts? Inquiring cheapskates want to know?
