240 Ac Compressor 200 1988

ok, after following some recommendations on checking whether my ac compressor clutch is working it looks liek it will need to be replaced. A friend just recently put a new compressor on a 91 240 sedan and was wondering if that compressor would also work with my 88 245?

Also, the reason for the replacement on the 91 sedan was that the mechanic said that the system was nasty and clogged. We tackled the flushing of the system and compressor replacement ourselfs and got a lot of junk out of the system. Is there a way to clean a compressor or is it not necassary? I just need this system to work till next season as I have other issues to repair before putting $700 on comfort.
