Flippin No start - Got spark 700

Just went out to the car to start it up so my mom could go to pick up my brother (A/C works better in my volvo than her Aerostar... ugh).

I have a no start! Anyway, I haven't had a change to look at much yet, but my normally howling Fuel pump is suddenly silent and the fuse is hot. I think it's bitten the dust and I've gotten prices of 405 to 125 for a new external pump.

I also don't hear the ITP. Maybe it's never run. I've always heard fuel splashing back into the tank, but never really been able to say with certainty that the ITP was working. It could have been fuel return.

Sucks, eh? 2 no starts in 2 weeks. Luckily I got that fat check (was going to be new wheel bearings).

Anyway, I'll go out and check, but the more time this is up, the better. I think I've got about 3 extra fuel relays (PicknPocket discount once a long time ago) and I'll swap those too.

No codes besides my missing EGR sensor. There is spark from the coil to the heat shield on the head, and it was running fine. I have had this odd intermittent HUGE miss like sudden fuel starvation and a low idle. The longer it sat today, the more often it happened. Once every 15 minutes, once every 5, once every 3. I think that was its last throes.
BTW the filter is about 5K miles old, I think I need a new check valve, and the FPR could be the culprit - but all logic points to the external pump. The last one was replaced in 8/01 and lasted from 168K Miles to 232K miles. 74K miles isn't bad for a pump that was 155 list price. I think it could have been used.

EDIT BY the way, is the pump an impeller type or a membrane type? I think my mechanic had his head ... in some dark orifice because I dare to do my own work when I can. I think others said backflushing it was impossible too, but he said it was a membrane type and therefore impossible. If it were an impeller, it might work sort of. I just looked on the Bosch site and the tout an impeller type pump as a replacement. J/W.

I'll post back.

-Will

PS it was looking like I had no change in mileage with the A/C on, but now I have to wait to find out!!! gah! Luckily the other car will be available to me as my mother is going on vacation - tomorrow. Thanks in Advance.
