A/C R12-->R134A conversion question 200 1988

I'm getting psyched up to do the conversion; 1988 245: I intend to purchase fpcgroton's Volvo conversion kit ($249). I read in a previous post that using a variable expansion valve will improve cooling in traffic. On the fpcgroton site I see an "expansion valve" 1975-90. I also see an "automatic adjuster orifice tube" 1993. Question: Can I use the auto adj. orifice tube designated for 1993, is it compatible w/ my 1988 system, to get improved low speed cooling?

In previous posts refering to the groton Volvo conversion kit I have read that it comes with all but 2 seals/O rings needed to complete the job. Can anyone tell me specifically which additional seals/O rings I need to order separately?

How much effort should I put into draining the R12 refrigerant oil out and how is draining accomplished?

After installing the kit and new receiver/drier, can I simply purchase cans of R134A and charge the system myself with a DIY gauge like the one that comes with the Interdynamics can of R134A as my guide?

Any other install tips for those who have done it?
