Hi
Whilst cleaning the throttle body and the associated plumbing I discovered two small tear in intake duct hose on two of its bellows. The hose was rubbing against one of the AC hose that's routed to the AC compressor. This issue is described in the FAQ and the solution was either a new one from the dealer or as described below
"A local mechanic found a small tear in the large diameter air hose ... He did a quick repair using a sealant"
I'm hoping to repair it rather than buying a new duct hose. I'm wondering what sort of sealant would be suitable and durable. Silicone perhaps? OR PVC solvent? I've tried using sticky tape but it won't stick and doubt it'll last long under the hood.
I had the same problem 4 years ago. Ended up buying a new one. The cause then was friction against the other AC hose to the compressor. I've prevented that hose repeating the tear by sandwiching a foam pad in between. Probably will do the same for the current offending hose once I repair this tear.
Appreciate any help. Thanks
Aslan
