It's back! I can't even give this car away! Last month it ran great all of the time, highway or city. I give it to someone and two weeks later the engine dies at a traffic light. The plugs are wet, especially #1 and #2.
The consensus was a bad injector, so two used/working injectors replaced #1 and #2. Still wet plugs immediately on startup. The cold start is unplugged.
So, now that the car is back in the hands of a novice mechanic, I checked the Engine temp sensor with the engine hot: 400 Ohms - at the bottom of the range for that temp. Cold air sensor at 200 ohms - also at the bottom range (temp was 90F). I also checcked the continuity of the wires to see if they were broken between there and the computer - both have resistance.
Check the manifold pressure sensor wires. This gets interesting. #7 and #15 is supposed to be 90ohms, I get 1500 ohms. #8 and #10 is supposed to be 350 ohms, I got infinity?? All other combinations should get infinity, I got 5,000 ohms for 7/10 and 200,000 for 8/15 (just barely registered on the meter).
Man, I really don't want to try to create a new wire bundle, but if that is the only solution... aaarrrrggggg.
Any suggestions will be acted on.
Thanks,
Klaus
