Starter Motor doesn't turn 700 1989

The starter motor wouldn't turn after a long hot drive and parking in a store lot. After several tries I moved the gear selector from park to neutral with out success. I then tapped on the starter solenoid and it started right up.

Is the solenoid the usual culprit? I have a rebuilt Bosch starter that was replaced about 4 years ago. Do they sell just the solenoid?
