gone thru 2 intake pumps, what's going on? 200 1989

Greetings all-

My Volvo started cutting out a couple of months back, so I figured out that the intake pump (IP) died, so I replaced it. Pump #2 lasted about 2 weeks, and that one died. Thinking that I had a bad part, I got another, and it just died, this one lasted about 10 days. I checked the wired going to the pump, and it is getting about 12.5v, and the ground is good. I also look at the tiny wires inside the assembly in the tank, and they all look good. With each pump change, I replaced the sock, and the black tube is in good shape. Now my main pump is squeeling like a pig, and it died on my wife today on the highway; I am thinking that it got vabor locked because the IP wasn't working and the main pump was doing all the work. I let it sit for awhile, and drove it 15 minutes home, and it started to cut out in front of my house. I checked for codes, and there were none. Also, when I put in the 2 previous IPs, I could definitely tell that they were working because they were pretty loud, now there is no sound. Any ideas?

Thanks-

Joe HC
