As I was escaping West Virginia yesterday afternoon, I had just turned north into Pennsylvania. I was going about 65 in 5th gear, and had the gas floored. The car hesitated and stalled. I coasted the the shoulder, got out, opened the hood, looked around, checked a few things. Nothing. No leaks, no fuses blown. Went back inside, started it right up. Drove the remaining 2 hours without a hitch.
Back up to earlier this week. I usually only drive this car on long trips, but I took it to sears for an alignment. ("Sears?" you ask? It's free, that's why.) When I did so, the car had a pretty rough start, followed by a little hesitation as I drove the first few miles. After that, business as usual.
I think i have the problem narrowed down. COld starts have been rough, and it seems that it hesitates, regardless of gear, when I'm giving it a lot of gas. My dad's theory is that I need a new fuel filter (it think the current one is factory). I also eliminated the broken air box thermostat, but that didn't affect anything. Any other ideas?? I'll probably work on it this coming week, but I want to make sure I have any parts that may be required before I make the 4.5 hour drive home.
Thanks
