Hello
With much anticpation, I am back to the RWD world of Volvos, as I have just purchased a very dreamy 1965 122 Wagon. It is my first 122. I have owned a number of Volvos over the years, including my first car, a 71 164, a few 240s, and most recently a 95 850 turbo. I spent three months living out of the back of my parents '70 145, as we traveled europe when I was 5, so there is something very familiar about this new car of mine. I just want to let everybody here know that I will have many questions about this car, so bear with me. Here is my first question.
I bought the car aware of a grinding/rumble sound that seems to come from the middle to back of the car. I have it up on stands, and there is play in the driveshaft and u-joints as I twist the shaft....so I am going to start there. I have had bad u-joints in my other rwd volvos, but they all shook at speed....there is really no shaking going on....so my question is, will you get a grinding sound from bad u-joints and no shake? My plan is to replace the u-joints and center bearing stuff....can anyone offer any tips on this preceedure, or recommend online sources for amazon repair tips.
Thanks
