My SCCA F/P 142 is kinda slow. So I thought I would try to soup it up and run it as a E/P car with a few engine mods. I was thinking of buying a Isky VV91 cam, puting on a larger Stahl header that I have, and preping a head as best I can with my limited resorces. The current motor has an unmodified E head as per the rules. I will prep an F head. I have my own tools for valve guide, seat and facing work but don't have ready access to a flow bench. RPM range is 5000-7500.
My first question is about valve springs. I am curently using Isky 625/626 springs. I have an older spare set of them with retainers. Should I just buy a fresh set of springsa for the new head or is there something better. I don't want to try something new like the behive springs and would rather use a proven setup. Lift is listed as .480 and rev limiter is 7600
My second question is for advice on valve, seat and port prep. The only thing I have found here is "don't try this at home"... I understand that my lack of a flow bench is a big limitation. I will test the finished product on a dyno. I've seen a BHP head and some good vintage race work so have some idea of whats going on. Stock B20F valves. Do the exhaust valves like to be back cut? Does any body care to point me the right direction?
Thanks
Charlie
