My trusty 89 240 wagon was whacked in the passenger side doors a couple of days ago in the parking lot. Of course, there's no sign of the other car and my insurance doesn't cover this. The front door keylock is banged up so the key can't turn it and the rear door has a 3 inch wide dent that runs from the front edge to the rear edge of the door. Minor damage to the quarter panel. I took it to the body shop near work and after he got through shaking his head he wrote up a quote for 1700 dollars. This car is too good to let this indignity go unanswered but 1700 could go for a lot of other things. The body man seemed to think finding another door was not going to be easy. He was buying a new skin from Volvo and reworking the old door. Luckily everything in the door (electric windows and locks) still works. What can I do?
