Removal of flex hose from manifold to air filter box question. 200 1986

I just read a post by Sirbog about his brick stalling in hot weather and Smitty suggested removing the flex hot air pipe hose from the exhaust manifold to the air breather box. Sounds like something I might need to do here in hot Florida. Is that all I need to do just disconnect it at both ends or do I cap off the opening to the breather box where the hose attaches? Is there anything I do to the inside of the breather box where the air filter resides?

Thanks.
