How to remove the pilot bearing in M46 car? 700 1991

Hello, a mechanic friend suggested squeezing grease from a grease gun into the crankshaft end... where the pressure would push out the bearing. I can't imagine this ever working on my car (and it didn't), since there is never a good enough seal to prevent the grease from escaping around the gun nozzle.

I removed a round wire retaining clip up against the bearing, and got the hook of a seal removal tool behind the bearing, but it wouldn't budge. It spins ok, maybe I should leave it - but obviously don't want to remove the tranny in a year when the bearing goes.

Ideas?
