auto tranny- is there more info for rough first to second shifts 200

thanks for the info. is the faq on this site applicable for 240s? Are the trannys the same? a mechanic i spoke with said he thought it sounded like a spring not a rubber ball. if i take off the pan do i have to replace the gasket? with my current problem , could my car make a five hour trip to portland?
