broke off valve cover bolts 700 1990

In spite of using a torque wrench, somehow I managed to break off two acorn nuts when replacing the valve cover gasket on my 1990 GLE 16-valve 740. What is the best course for me to take? I note that the bolts come out of the engine and are secured in small square bulges - can the bolts be removed and replaced? Do I drill them out? Or use a broken screw extractor? What is the replacement size/length? Are the replacement acorn nuts easy to find?

Any help will be appreciated.
Thanks!
Brian
