There's a used car lot near my house that has a 240 wagon in the lot. It's been there for awhile. They originally had a price of $850 on it, which was dropped to $550 a month or so ago. Light blue with a 4spd+EOD. For the past couple of weeks, it's been sitting with a flat RF tire (very sad).
I've been debating on this car as a replacement for my aging '90 Ford van that I haven't driven since December.
The car has some rust - mainly the rockers, which appear to be filled with 10 lbs of Bondo... on each side... the rest don't look bad. Floors seem reasonably solid. Not sure how it runs or if it needs any major suspension or brake work. I can basically do any level of work myself.
Basically, I'm trying to decide if the car is even worth looking at. I'm looking for something that would be a more practical (fun?) and fuel efficient than my V8 powered van. I have a newer, small car for daily driver duties. It would haul dirty stuff.
What does one usually expect from a $500 240?
