Hi All:
On a recent trip to florida, my 1986 745 with B230FT and LH2.2, started to act up. Intiial start in the morning was very hard. Once stated, seemed to run fairly good with a little hesitation. If left out in the florida heat for a few hours, the car would start normally and run fine with no hesitation and full power. Next morning same thing.
Finally got the car to Savannah, ran fairly good with a slight hesiatation all day. In savannah the condition got worse. Hesitation was worse and if stalled it would not start. Finally got it started by depressing the throttle to the floor. It then stated reluctantly. I had to leave it at my brother's house as I considered it too unreliable to drive home. I intend to retrieve the car at a later date. With a little help from you guys and / or a tow.
I didn't have much time for trouble shooting in 100 degree heat, but here were my observations:
(1)- Steady pulse from tach during cranking (Good hall sensor?)
(2)- All injectors appear to be firing when running (Finger on injector test)
(3)- In tank pump running when car was running (Listen a tank opening)
(4)- Fuel regulator appears to be controlling (Can hear pulses)
(5)- This engine still has the old bio-degradeable engine harness. I can see some crumbling wires going to the injectors.
(6)- Replaced Cap & rotor.
(7)- Appeared to try to start when key was released from crank position
(8)- The thing that really gets me is the normal stating after being out in the sun for a few hours.
Have any of you guys ever experienced a similar problem, or any suggestions.
Thanks
