front window channel replacement Q 120-130 1966

Today (right now, in fact), I'm replacing my front window channels and the wing window rubber. I had assumed I'd probably need to remove the windows to replace all the channels. But taking out the vent windows out already required the removal of the top window channel and the channel that abuts the vent window (I didn't realize the whole darn thing came out with the vent window).

I'm looking at that last channel (two pieces actually) that runs vertically along the window side close to the outer edge of the door and wondering if I can't remove those pieces by rolling down the window to get out the top half and rolling up the window to remove the lower half. The lower half channel is affixed to something there (by a rivet? It's wobbly and I'm wondering if something actually broke or came loose at some point in my car's history).

Does anyone know if this is possible and what I need to do? I'd really like to NOT have to take out the glass and its chain, etc. to do this if I don't have to.

I have to do some repairs on my interior upholstery panel pockets so I probably have a day or two before I put this all back together.

Would appreciate input if anyone out there has any.

thanks!

Holly
