Broken M46 clutch bleeder screw. How to remove the clutch slave cylinder? 700

As expected, the bleeder screw on the slave cylinder broke off while trying to bleed the clutch. Now I have to drill out the remains of the screw, which is awkward with the slave still attached. I have removed a snap ring on the slave, and given it several whacks to push it forward out of what appears to be its bracket on the transmission, but it won't budge.

Am I missing something, or just not whacking it hard enough?
