Hello:
New here. Anyway I have a couple of easy questions. I recently bought a 1993 240 Wagon (200 k miles zone). My first Volvo. My parents had a wagon way back though. Deja Vu as an adult. I bought a voltmeter and an oil pressure gauge off ebay; both with bezels.
Voltmeter: Where is the best spot to connect the leads for this? I could go all the way back to the fuse panel if I had to. Also, I didn't get the harnass to connect in the lighting for it. Is there a harnass in there somewhere already or do I have to rig something up. Forgive me I haven't taken the dash/panel apart to investigate yet; zillion degrees out with humidity too.
Oil Pressure: This was an impulse buy and after the fact I wondered if I should have got the higher bar unit; this one tops out at 3 bar. I noticed now in the bently book the min bar is 2.5 and the max 6. Am I going to be pinning the need on this all the time? Is the 3 bar gauge useless? Also having a hard time finding the sender. Where is the cheapest source. Autozone has two: one for 80 psi the other for 100psi (back to the 3 versus 5 bar I suppose). Should I keep the 3 and get an 80psi sender? I think I need a Tee too so that idiot light still works true? Where to get?
Finally, I see EGauges carries VDO stuff, are the gauges above still made under one of their current series (equivalent that would work in bezel)? Too bad there is not more room for gauges without giving up the upper radio position. I can think of quite a few gauges that would be sweet to have. I would be a gauge freak though.
I have a bunch more questions, but they might as well wait until I do some troubleshooting with the front suspension/steering. Already dealt with the tailgate harness issue. I think I paid too much, but we won't talk about that as I like the vehicle.
