Just today on my way to a friend's house. I was so bummed that I turned around and had to seek the consolation of the brickboard! Here's the scoop. I know it was working the other day because I looked at it today and the trip meter showed the miles I had traveled. I have not played with the trip button, pressed it, or reset it lately. I just noticed the trip meter was not moving early on in my trip. When I exited the freeway, I stopped, put the car in park, and reset the trip meter to zero. The few blocks back to my house the odomer did not move. Mileage is 195k.
Questions:
Are there warning signs that your odometer is going out?
Was there anything I could have done to prevent this from happening?
Could I have done something that caused this (I have not pressed the trip button while car is in motion)?
Is this a odometer gear issue or maybe a tire/speedomter cable issue?
How esay is it to replace odo gear?
