I am tired of replacing hydraulic brakelight switches!
Mine always stick in the "on" position, so no-one knows when I"m braking, and a while back I seached on this and other sites for reasons for the rapid failure rate, and I found that this has long been a problem.
Apart from the aggrevation of buying and changing them, the fact is that even when the brakelight switch is working properly, your stop lights do not come on until you are hard on the pedal, inviting tailgaters to park in your trunk! This is a little disconcerting, so I've come up with a solution.
I have installed an adjustable mechanical switch on my 544, using a proven watertight mechanical switch, activated by the brake rod.it is connected to the existing switch wires, and mounted near the Master Cylinder. {Easy 15 min. installation}
I'm prepared to make up a batch of kits if there is enough interest.
My main problem is locating a source for a quantity of the switches, as their original market demographic has dried up, so I'll need some idea of a number.
