s40 240 comparison 200 1988

Thought I'd share this. I took my 88 245 in to Volvo Unionville to get the flexable brake lines replaced and the complete rear brakes (pads rotors parking brake shoes and 1 caliper) replaced. Its costing me ~$1000 CDN. They had to have it overnight so they got a rental for me 20 bucks a day. I didn't expect it would be a Volvo but it was new s40. It was a nice quiet ride compared to my old 88. The throttle was more responsive but I'm not sure it picked up alot faster. I had the A/C on because its hot as Heck here. It felt really cramped compared to the 240. Also I noticed that the small bumps on the road I felt more on the s40 but when hitting larger bumps it didn't clunk like my 240 (new bushings?) I found that I couldn't put my arm on the door where I normally would. When doing 80 in my 240 it seems like your doing 60 and in the s40 if your doing 80 it seemed you were doing 100. Forgetting all the new bells and whistles that newer Volvos come with I'd have to say I love my 240 wagon even more and spending $1000 for new brakes is not that bad.
