740 Heated Mirror Conversion 700 1990

OK I've read the forums and posts. But I'm still not clear exactly what I need to proceed. Sorry I'm just trying to get the best guide I can because I have limited private working area and opportunity living in an apartment.

I have a 1990 745T. Has power mirrors, and an elk smashed the passenger side one this winter.

Because I needed to replace the glass only(the housing miraculously survived, and motor still moves), I'm starting with that side and seeing if I can do it. I have the Volvo glass (all you can get is heated now, apparently). So it's heated.

Now, the wires will be in the door it seems. I have removed the door panels on other cars. How obvious are the wires? with connectors that go on that glass?

Then, what exactly is needed at the dash? Sargeant describes changing the "connector" I don't like the sound of that.

Are the "in the door" wires that go to the mirrors already there in the "connector" or just the vicinity? Are they connected to the defrost switch already or: Is a new switch required as some posts suggest?

How much dash teardown is one looking at to comfortably do the dash wiring?

Cheers for any help!
