HELP!! Suspension piece snapped! 700 1991

Hi all:

Forgive me if this has been discussed before, but I'm not able to visit this site very often anymore. I have a 91 740 that started making a snapping noise today. On closer examination, a small link (which looks to be a swaybar link from the pics I've seen online) has snapped clean through at the base!

My mechanic will be replacing it, but is about 10 miles away...does the car need to be towed? It doesnt seem to handle noticible differently.

Thanks in advance for your help...I'm waiting for a tow now, but I'd love to cancel it if the car's driveable.
