A new noise 444-544

It has been a few weeks sinse driving the PV and I noticed a new noise. It is a clunking noise that seems to be comming from the drive shaft somewhere. I also feel it in the clutch pedal. It does this in 1st gear only and not all the time.
I had the rear end off the ground to see if the universal joints had play in them and they seem OK. A new clutch kit was installed about two years / 2000 miles max. ago along with a pilot bearing. The differential pinion seal was also replaced last year.

Any thoughts as to what this could be? How to verify?

It must have known I was thinking about selling it. :-)
