Violet, Brown and Grey switches at condensor & other AC questions 900 1993

Its been almost 4 years since I last had my system recharged and evacuated. It's cooled very very well until a few weeks ago. Can't locate any obvious refrigerant leaks, I reflowed the solder connections in the dash unit last year. I think I'll just get a recharge.

Before I do though I should tell everyone that I only have 1 of the 3 switches at the condensor connected. When the others are connected it causes the electric fan to run... even when the car is turned off. I'm guessing they have failed closed. I dont know which switch is connected right now... but I'm guessing for the system to function they all need to be there.

With all the heat recently could I have boiled away some refrigerant if the high press. cut off sitch was not connected?? Is it even possible to do this. I have added a relay to turn the elec fan on whenever the ac is on.

Any feedback on the 'air products' switches at FCP groton. They cost a ton less than the bosch switches.

Any super-special tips for my AC shop. They are good folks and REALLY LISTEN TO ME, but dont know if there are any volvo specific things they need to know for evac and recharge.

Thanks all!!
