90 740 Turbo, closer to spec every ...payday!
I'm buying new rotors tomorrow as mine are warped and my wheel bearings are (finally) being replaced. I don't want one to damage the other or vice a versa because I procrastinate.
Also, the rotors I have look like the car may have slid or sat on them for a while - Each side has a flat spot.
Anyway, I found my part number and it's the stock 1359908 (no letter) 11.25" rotor.
I would like to avoid the rotor that warped on me, but that's not really possible as I can't ID the brand.
I'm going to buy them from FCP as I am buying their braided steel brake lines anyway.
So, what recommendations do you all have about rotors? I'm not going with cross-drilled rotors even though they look really cool. I don't live in the mountains this summer and it seems to me that they are going to be 1) weakened (swiss cheese!) and 2) BIG invitations to corrosion to eat through the spots between the cross-drills.
I think ATE would be my choice, I've never heard of Balo, and I think Brembo was the OE (the type that warped). I'm ordering my hubs from Kragen because I got a 15% discount coupon mailed to me and they are $20 less each than FCP - enough to buy the brake lines ;) Kragen carries Beck/Arnley, which I never really considered, but I'm open to them too.
Of the ATE, there are two choices - ATE and ATE power discs. Anyone know the difference?
I'm calling FCP Groton tomorrow around 11 PST, so please respond before that if it's convenient.
I am not planning on it, but I notice a caliper pin kit with new bolts (for what?) and new pins and silicone lube. Any comments?
And what about the brake fluid? I was going with the Plain ATE. I don't race or anything, no heavy use except that it's hot here.
Thanks for the help,
-Will
