Been working on Scarlett (1971 1800E, D-Jet Injection) today. Had to get her towed to the house last weekend. She got me to my destination, but refused to start once I wanted to head home. Definately not getting fuel.
First suspected the relay as the pump is only about two years old. However it looks like the fuel pump itself is tanked (and probably took the relay with it).
What kind of resistance should we be seeing across the terminals on the pump itself? Currently mine reads 0.7 Ohms, which works out to a static 17ish amps at 12V. Does it sound like it is shorted internally?
At the relay, the resistance between the yellow line back to the pump and the battery ground is 1.5 Ohms; this seems to indicate that there isn't a short in the wiring harness itself.
The signal to the relay from the ECU jumps to 10V (a little low...but she's 30 years old :) on starter crank, as it should. Also on crank, there is a 11V drop accross the harness connector which plugs into the pump itself
That being said, where is a good source for the fuel pumps needed for D-Jet injection? As well as replacement relays? I bench tested the current one, continuity and resistance was not stable. It probably didn't dig that amperage load too much.
