I have an automatic 87' Volvo 740 GLE sedan with about 210,000 miles on it. With the exception of one thing, this car purrs. Within the past few months it has started to have a problem when it turns on. I'll turn it on, and it will sputter and stall out, BUT if i feed it gas and get the revs to 4-5 it will be fine. It also seems to be a usage/temperature thing. If its been over 24 hours since i drove it, it will try to die unless i give it gas, also, if it is cool outside, it is more likely to do it (if it is off for 24 hours and it is 95 degrees during the day and warm at night it is fine). This car has lived all but the last 10 months of its life in Texas with a comfortable life of highway miles and mild temperatures. It recently was relocated with me to Philadelphia - and I'd like to find out what the problem is before it has to face the cold weather and decides it *really* doesnt want to turn on. Thanks!
