O2 Sensor cleaning 200

Ever since I did the O/D relay elimination on my 89 240, the O2 sensor has caused the Check engine light to occasionally come on, Usually cured by resetting computer by pulling fuse. Recently came on and stayed on. $139 for a new O2 sensor? I think not. Pulled the sensor out of the cat/conv where it resides, It didn't look like it was in that bad of shape, just carboned up. Why not try a little oven cleaner, I thought, worst case scenario, I have to replace the sensor, so why not.
Well Hell's Bell's IT WORKED!!!. Had to rest the comp once , but then it has stayed out for two days so far.
I hope nobody is going to bust my bubble and tell me that this is going to cause my Kinifity linkage to Marfax my crankcase, but just in case .....
Any body have any comment.
