Occasional screeching noise 200

Beginning around 3 weeks ago, my car began screeching at me while driving. In the past week the noise has been getting more frequent and lasts about 3 to 5 seconds. My thoughts are that it might be due to a power steering problem or maybe the water pump? Any suggestions on how to diagnose or isolate the problem?
