This is the first post I've made for a 240. I'm really a pre-1970's kind of Volvo geek. The car is an indestructable, beat up looking 1987 240, belonging to my S.O.
It's been such a great car, that it's only the irritating plasticy sort of things that break. She must have over 250K on it, and it doesn't even use a major amount of oil.
Does anyone out there have a good, permanent repair for the glove box door which keeps slamming open at the least bump in the road? The mounting holes sort of ripped out, and I replaced them with the same screws, but with small backing washers. The problem seems to be that the box itself flexs at the pivot points below the actual plastic hinges. The latch works, but the door itself sort of slides downward, making the catch slip. I didn't really find anything in the archives which addresses this minor, but annoying problem. Maybe a few sheet metal screws driven in from below the box? I would like to make a proper repair, not a Velcro and wooden wedge fix. Thanks all,..
